Computer room

On the 6th floor, access through the door facing the southward lift.

The workstations in the computer room have MS Word and Adobe Reader installed, either LAN or WLAN connection available.

Computer terminals

On the reference floor, there are computer terminals labelled either "NEBIS Catalogue Search" or "Internet Access for Registered Users". There is also a CD-ROM-terminal and a Day-account terminal.

Furthermore, floors 1 to 6 have a computer terminal at the south end of the gallery for unlimited internet access to licensed e-resources for enrolled users.

Copying

Bankruptcy was opened via the ZSUZ, the Student trust that also organized the copying service. As alternatives to its services, there is an external ETH student shop (opens new window) for stationery and stationery and Sautercopy (opens new window) at Seilergraben 37 (next to ZB), which offers a comprehensive printing and copying service. Unfortunately, the copy cards can no longer be topped up.

On the 6th floor in the library, there is now the possibility of copying, printing and scanning on one single copier, using coins:

A print from memory stick, black and white A4 page, costs 5 Rappen

A black and white copy costs 10 Rappen

A color copy 50 Rappen and

Scanning is free - to be saved on a memory stick.

The University Task Force has signaled that the print-to-go system with the CampusCard might also be conceivable in the future. Therefore, please keep your copy card. We will try to keep you up to date in the blog and via notices in the copier rooms.

Giacometti Library

Not generally open to our library users. Viewing only by appointment. Please write to
bibliothek@rwi.uzh.ch.
Its documents may be consulted in the Law Library. Please ask at the reference desk.

Group discussion rooms

There are four group discussion rooms on the 6th floor (access through the door facing the southward lift). WLAN available. No reservation needed.

Please turn to the reception or information desk to obtain a free internet day account for non-enrolled library users.

Help

The reception staff answer general questions about how to use the library.

Further advice on more specific questions about the library catalogue, collection or search issues, is given at the reference desk on the raised ground floor, open Monday to Friday 10:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 15:00.

Internet / WLAN / VPN / SWITCHconnect

Lending service

Acting as a reference library, as a rule, no lending is possible. However, an exception is made for the faculty staff. Students are asked to report to the reference desk if the required document is momentarily on loan. The reference staff will then recall that document.

Lockers for daily use

The library has more than 500 lockers for daily use available. A 2-franc-coin or a token is needed to use the locker. The coin is released when the the locker key is reinserted and the door opened.

All the daily lockers should be empty by closing time. Any closed locker is opened by staff after closing time and the items left in the locker are returned against a fee.

Lockers for long-term rent

There are over 400 lockers for rental. The rental period is six months for which CHF 30.- are charged, to be prolonged every six months for as long as needed. If you want to rent a locker, please fill in a form at the reception desk. Normally, there is a waiting list.

Parlatories

On each floor 1 to 5 a parlatory is available for shorter discussions on the west side of the gallery. These rooms have soundproof walls.

Periodicals on the reference floor

The latest issues - usually from the current year - are kept on the reference floor in call number order. These issues may not be removed from the reference floor. Please use the reading area with armchairs and the adjacent copy room.

Older issues are bound in volumes and kept in the respective subject area on floors 1 to 6 or in the "Compactus" in the basement. In the latter case, the location "Compactus" is specifically noted in the NEBIS catalogue.

Reference floor

Access on the ground floor on either side of the stairs inside the hall. If you cannot use the stairs, please report to the reception staff. A stairway lift for wheelchairs is installed on the righthand-side.

On the reference floor:

  • latest issues of subscribed journals
  • copy room with one copy machine

Study library with mainly text books on the 6th floor.

COMPACTUS (Basement, floor -2)
Access from the north-side stairwell when you enter the library hall. The lift can only be used with a key. If you cannot use the stairs, please report at the reception.

Toilet / Accessible toilet

There are toilets on every floor next to the lifts
Ladies: ground floor, 2nd, 4th und 6th floor
Gentlemen: 1st, 3rd und 5th floor

The disability-adapted toilet with Eurokey is situated on the 6th floor opposite the copy room.
