UZH Brown Bag Series in Legal Data Science

Organization: Prof. Dr. Tilmann Altwicker (UZH Law Faculty) and Dr. Zhivko Taushanov (CLDS)

The UZH Brown Bag Lunch in Legal Data Science series addresses the growing importance of quantitative research on legal issues. The aim is to facilitate an exchange among researchers on various issues connected to empirical legal research, ranging from data collection and method to the interpretation of results.

For this purpose, in one format of the workshop, researchers are invited to present their own empirical legal research projects. In the other format, current journal articles are discussed (e.g. from the Journal of Empirical Legal Studies). The workshop is open for contributions from the various legal disciplines – public law, criminal law, private law, business law – employing quantitative research methods. Interdisciplinary contributions (e.g. from statistics, economics, political science, sociology, psychology) with a reference to law are also welcome.

The group of participants includes scholars active in the fields mentioned above and is open for PhD students.
