Prof. Alexander's report at the G20 in Hangzhou, China

Professor Alexander's input paper to the G20 titled "Greening Banking Policy" was received very favourably by the attending guests of the G20 meeting in Hangzhou, China, on September 5, 2016. In his paper he discusses the transition from the current, high-carbon economy to a more sustainable and greener one, as well as the potential risks thereof to financial stability. He also describes how various G20 and non-G20 countries, including Switzerland, are addressing these changes through policy and their differences. He proposes measures to manage banks' exposure to various risks arising from the shift to a low-carbon economy and further coordination international efforts to reduce financial risks.
