Prof. Thouvenin supervises master theses as part of the seminars offerd, which can be found in the current couse catalog and on the chair's website. If you are interested in writing a master thesis as part of a seminar, please refer to the information provided on the corresponding chair's website regarding registration and topic proposal.
Additionally, and depending on the available capacities, you may request to write an independent master thesis (in principle in German oder English). Thematically, the master thesis should address legal issues in the fields of "Information and Communication Law", "Intellectual Property Law" or "Competition Law" (Federal Law Against Unfair Competition, "UWG").
You may send any such request to the chair (Lst.thouvenin@ius.uzh.ch), which shall include the following:
Provided that there is sufficient capacity and the submitted documents meet our requirements, both in terms of topic and quality, we will be pleased to invite you to a first meeting at the chair to discuss the disposition and research question / thesis as well as to clarify any open questions.
Based on the submitted documents and the first meeting, a decision will be made as to the supervision of the master thesis.
If Professor Thouvenin decides to supervise the master thesis, a Master Thesis Agreement will be signed.
According to the new framework regulation, master theses can solely be awarded 12 ECTS credits. If the master thesis is written as part of a seminar, the student is required to give a presentation during the seminar, which will be considered in the overall assessment. Thus, the scope of a master thesis written as a part of a seminar is smaller compared to an independent thesis.

The master thesis shall be submitted to the chair by e-mail (Lst.thouvenin@ius.uzh.ch) as a PDF and Word and by the agreed deadline at the latest. The Master Thesis Agreement must be submitted as original to: University of Zurich, Faculty of Law, Chair Thouvenin, Raemistrasse 74/49, CH-8001 Zurich.
