Prof. Dr. Martti Koskenniemi

Professor Martti Koskenniemi is Academy Professor and Director of the Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights at the University of Helsinki. He has held visiting professorships at New York University, the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics, Melbourne University, University of Utrecht, Columbia University, the University of São Paulo, the University of Toronto, and the Universities of Paris I, II, X and XVI. He was member of the International Law Commission (UN) from 2002 to 2006. His main publications include From Apology to Utopia: The Structure of International Legal Argument (1989), The Gentle Civilizer of Nations: The Rise and Fall of International Law 1870-1960 (2001), The Politics of International Law (2011), and The Cambridge Companion to International Law (2012, co-edited with Professor James Crawford). He holds the degree of doctorate of laws honoris causa from the Universities of Uppsala, Frankfurt and McGill. He is a Fellow of the British Academy. He is presently working on a History of International legal Thought from the late middle ages to the 19th century.

Friederike Erxleben

Friederike Erxleben studierte von 2004 bis 2011 Rechtswissenschaften an der Eberhard-Karls-Universität in Tübingen und an der Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem in Budapest. Ihr Schwerpunktstudium zum römischen Recht schloss sie mit einer Arbeit zur redemptio servi suis nummis 2010 ab. Seit 2011 provomiert sie im römischen Zivilprozessrecht bei Prof. Dr. Thomas Finkenauer, M.A. in Tübingen. 2013 verbrachte sie einen dreimonatigen Forschungsaufenthalt an der Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II in Neapel bei Prof. Carla Masi Doria und Prof. Cosimo Cascione. Studium und Promotion wurden von der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes gefördert. Zurzeit ist Friederike Erxleben Referendarin am Kammergericht in Berlin.

Dr. Federico Battaglia

Federico Battaglia, geb. 1978. Jurastudium (1997-2002) und Doktorat im Römischen Recht und europäischer Rechtskultur an der Universität Pavia (2002-2006, Prof. Dr. D. Mantovani; Dissertation: „Der Streitpunkt zwischen Itanos und Hierapytna, 2. Jh. v. Chr.: Die Rolle Roms bei interstaatlichen griechischen Schiedsspruchverfahren“). Postdoktorand und Lehrassistent am Lehrstuhl für Römisches Recht der Universität Pavia (2006-2012; Hauptprojekte: Geschichte des römischen furtum; Entwicklung des Begriffs Diebstahl in der europäischen Dogmengeschichte). Gastwissenschaftler an der Universität Paris II Panthéon-Assas (2006, Prof. Dr. M. Humbert) und an der Universität des Saarlandes (2007 und 2010, Prof. Dr. T. J. Chiusi). Seit 2013 Oberassistent der Fachgruppe Grundlagen des Rechts am Rechtswissenschaftlichen Institut der Universität Zürich und Habilitand am Lehrstuhl von Prof. Dr. U. Babusiaux (Thema: „Das römische Recht in der Geschichte des europäischen Strafrechtsdenken“).
