Language: The Lectures will be held entirely in German.
Concept: The lecture provides a practical overview of Swiss juvenile criminal law (including juvenile criminal procedure law). By using fictitious cases (including files created for this purpose), the usual course of juvenile criminal proceedings in the canton of Zurich is presented and students are given the opportunity to draft two legal documents (penalty order, dismissal, objection to a penalty order, indictment or similar). By submitting these documents, students can earn 2 extra points toward their exam grade each. The fictitious cases, the submitted documents, and other review questions will be discussed in the lecture.
As part of the lecture, experts from the field will give presentations and provide insight into their work in juvenile criminal justice. Following the presentations, students will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Exam: Expedctedly, the exam will be held online using the Safe Exam Browser Inspera.
Project Paper: Students may submit a legal document (penalty order, dismissal, etc.) relating to one of the cases covered in the lecture twice. Up to 2 points will be awarded for each submission, which will be credited in the exam. It is possible to pass the exam without the points and to achieve the maximum number of points. The documents must be submitted on November 20, 2024, and December 18, 2024. The templates will be made available on OLAT one week in advance. An information sheet containing further information will be provided before the first submission.
Podcasts: The lecture and expert presentations will be held in presence; due to the nature of the lecture, no podcast will be recorded.

Institutions: Accompaning the lecture, students have the opportunity to visit a juvenile institution. Registration for this takes place via OLAT (possible from October 4, 2024, 10:00 a.m.). Further information can be found in the lecture schedule.
