Supervision of master's theses

Write an individual master's thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ulrike Babusiaux

New regulations from fall semester 2021: Starting in fall semester 2021, UZH master's students will only be able to write a single master's thesis worth 12 ECTS credits (link curriculum MLaw UZH). If you have any further organizational questions, please contact the Student Advisory Service. The master's thesis can still be written both within and outside of a seminar.

Prof. Babusiaux supervises master's theses in the fields of Roman law, Roman legal history, private law, and comparative private law. If you are interested in topics in these areas, you can apply to Prof. Babusiaux by email (yvonne.kastner@ius.uzh.ch). You should submit the following personal information and transcripts electronically:

- Personal information: First name/last name; adress/phone number/email adress; matriculation number; topic or subject area/s of interest; starting date of thesis; expected submission date of thesis.

- Transcripts: BLaw certificate; transcript of records of your master, if available; bachelor's thesis with assessment.

After reviewing the documents, a preliminary meeting will be held at the chair. If necessary, a suitable topic will be found together at this meeting. However, it is necessary that you think about which topics are suitable for you and where your main areas of interest lie before the preliminary meeting. For capacity reasons, only a limited number of theses can be supervised per semester.

If Prof. Babusiaux decides to supervise your master's thesis, the framework conditions will be set out in writing in the master's thesis agreement. You must then submit this agreement together with your master's thesis.
