Mission statement

Our aim

The Center aims to serve as a university contact point for anyone interested in foundation law. It supports researchers from Switzerland and abroad, introduces students to foundation law through courses and seminars, and provides a communication platform for academia and foundation practitioners (founders, foundation boards, advisors, and supervisory authorities) in the form of conferences, for example.

Research and documentation

The Center sees itself as a neutral research center. It initiates, conducts, and supervises specific research projects. It also aims to facilitate access to the subject matter. For this reason, we collect data and materials that are lacking in Switzerland as a foundation location and we strive to provide as complete a documentation as possible of the relevant domestic and foreign foundation law literature and case law. Relevant materials and current developments are available on the Center’s website.

Content

In terms of content, the focus is on foundation law in Switzerland, Germany, Liechtenstein, and Austria, with an overview of other European and Anglo-American legal systems. We take a holistic approach and consider foundation law from the perspective of both charitable status and private asset management and estate planning. Trust law is also part of our research.

Network and cooperation

The Center cooperates with numerous scientific and practical institutions in Germany and abroad. In addition to its legal network, the Center strives for interdisciplinarity. We are open to cooperation with interested institutions in Germany and abroad.

Funding

The Center is financed by third-party funds and donations. We appreciate your support.
