Digital Solidarity and Law

The project "Digital Solidarity and Law" is part of a research collaboration between the University of Zurich (UZH) and the Free University of Berlin (FUB). The concept of "solidarity" has been of great importance in the sociology of law since the writings of Emile Durkheim. The project aims to reconstruct the discourse on digital solidarity and law in the transition from industrial capitalism to digital capitalism. The focus is on the role that law plays in the currently forming digital society. The project combines this theoretical perspective with more legal practice oriented topics such as 1) Digital Property and Commons, 2) Sharing Economy and Digital Work, 3) Digital Platforms, 4) Digital Jurisprudence, 5) Digital Comparative Law. A start-up funding granted jointly by the UZH and the FUB makes it possible to conduct various workshops within the framework of the project for the time being and to work out concrete questions for future joint projects.
